HOW DOES ORDERING WORK?
You can place orders through our “orders” tab, emailing maggie@petalexchange.com, calling us at the shop, or coming in. Size options are junior ($40-$55), ideal for an end table or small desk; standard ($70-$85), ideal for a breakfast table centerpiece or small coffee table (our most popular); deluxe ($100-$115) ideal for a smaller dining room table or kitchen island; statement ($135+) ideal for an entryway or larger dining room table—call or email us for statement pieces that need to be particularly large. You can see examples of our work on our social media pages (@thepetalexchange_athens), however, please note that we do not make replicas of past designs created by us or any other designer; everything is a new creation that we approach as a piece of custom artwork.

CAN I ORDER SOMETHING OTHER THAN A FLORAL ARRANGEMENT?
In addition to flowers, we are happy to deliver houseplants and dried flower creations. You can also add on any of our other assorted gift items! Call us or look on instagram @thepetalexchange_athens to see some options.

DO YOU DELIVER?
Yes, as long as your order meets our $40 minimum. We’re happy to offer delivery to Athens & Watkinsville for $10 & surrounding areas within 30 minutes for $15-20. If you’re unsure if you are in our delivery range, our online ordering option calculates that automatically, or you can reach out to us directly. We are happy to provide delivery 7 days a week! However, same-day orders on days we are closed are often not doable (ie: placing an order Sunday that needs to go out that same day). Unfortunately, we do not ship flowers or plants at this time, but we will gladly ship any of our other gift items.

WILL THE RECIPIENT BE NOTIFIED BEFORE THEIR DELIVERY?
99% of the time, no, unless you request that. During warm months, we encourage you to confirm that the recipient will be home because flowers left outside in the heat of the GA summer can wilt. By request, we are happy to coordinate directly with the recipient; otherwise, we avoid it so that we don’t spoil the surprise!

CAN I SEE A PHOTO OF THE ARRANGEMENT I ORDER?
We’re proud to say that although this is uncommon in the floral industry, yes! We send a confirmation photo to the sender with every order as it leaves the shop for delivery. Do note that this photo is so you can enjoy the arrangement from afar; we do not make changes at this stage.

WHAT IF I WANT SPECIFIC FLOWERS?
Be it for a regular delivery or an event, if you would like specific types of flowers, please order in advance (preferably at least 10 days) and we will do our best to accommodate. We carry different types of flowers each week and can often special-order things for you. Please be aware that specialty or out-of-season flowers can be pricey!

DO YOU DO EVENTS?
Yes! We love to design custom floral arrangements for events such as weddings, showers, conferences, & more. To discuss your event, please call the store or send us an email. For weddings and larger events, please complete our consultation form (located under our “weddings” tab), email it over, then we’ll set up a consultation. We cannot accommodate “on the spot”/unscheduled consultations.

DO YOU DO FUNERAL ORDERS?
Yes! We consider it an honor to help design flowers in memory of your loved ones. We offer standing sprays + wreaths, casket sprays, vase arrangements and plant baskets. For large items like sprays/wreaths, we ask that you give us a few days notice.

DO YOU MAKE ARTIFICAL PIECES FOR GRAVESTONES?
Sometimes, but contrary to popular belief, artificial flowers are often just as expensive as fresh flowers, so please be aware of that before ordering. We will need several days’ notice for any artificial flower orders since we do not carry them in the shop and must special order them.

CAN I PLACE A BULK ORDER FOR LOOSE STEMS?
We are happy to provide you with buckets of loose stems to design your own arrangements. We ask that you give us as much notice as possible. All the flowers that leave our shop go through multi-stage processing and must meet our high quality standards. If you are ordering loose stems in order to save money, please note that there is very little difference in price vs having us do the arranging.

WHY ARE FLOWERS EXPENSIVE AND WHY ARE THESE BETTER?
We understand that if you’re not in the floral profession, you may be surprised that something perishable can be quite pricey! That’s why we tell people that quality flowers and floral arrangements are a luxury good. Because we use not only high-quality, but also specialty blooms, the wholesale pricing is not cheap. Having said that, we try to keep things as affordable for our customers as possible— that’s why our retail markup and labor charges has remained well below the industry average. We know that your money is hard-earned, so we want to give you the best bang for your buck, and here’s how we do that: 1) our flowers go through multi-stage processing before they ever get to your home, which ensures that you’re getting long-lasting, pristine blooms; 2) our arrangements are designed in high-quality glassware, or more often, ceramic vases; 3) each piece is a thoughtfully unique design. The unfortunate truth about the industry is that grocery stores sell their flowers at breakeven or loss, so we’ll never be able to match those prices. But, as the saying goes, “you get what you pay for!”

WHERE ARE YOUR FLOWERS SOURCED FROM?
It totally depends on the time of year and the fluctuations in wholesale pricing. Generally, it is a mix of imports from Europe/South America/California, local farms, and our own cutting garden.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND POLICY?
We hope you’ll be so happy with your purchase that you won’t need a refund, but if you do, we’re here to make it right. Plants: 3-day full refund, plant must be returned. Hardgoods/decor (not fresh flowers or plants): 14-day full refund if undamaged. Floral arrangements: 24 hours. We will deliver a replacement arrangement or offer a 50% refund. If you have an issue with your arrangement beyond this point, please let us know and we will try to make it right. Dried flowers: 3-day full refund if undamaged. Flower bar/flowers by the stem: Non-refundable.

ARE YOU HIRING?
Sorry, we are not hiring at this time. Please drop by with your resume (and email it too, for good measure!) and it will be kept on file for the next time we are hiring. Before you do this, keep in mind that positions involve very little floral design and will be mostly other general shop help (cleaning, potting plants, scrubbing buckets, processing flowers, answering phones). We often hear how much fun it must be to work in a flower shop, and yes, it is fun to work with such beautiful materials, but it is hard, messy work!
